On June 12, 2016, a gunman killed 49 people and injured 53 others inside Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, United States. He was killed by Orlando police after a three-hour standoff. This event marks the deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman in the United States, and the deadliest incident of violence against LGBT people in the United States. Love Wins

  Friday, June 26, 2015 marked a landmark victory for marriage equality when the Supreme Court of the United States ruled in Obergefell v. Hodges making the right for same-sex couple to marry legal in all 50 states. Justice Anthony Kennedy authored the majority opinion that is celebrated here.

ENDA the Line

The Employment Non-Discrimination Act [ENDA] would provide basic protections against workplace discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity. It currently includes a broad exemption for religious organizations. Lift the Ban

The FDA’s lifetime ban on blood donation from gay men is discriminatory and perpetuates negative stereotypes. Gay men are currently prohibited from giving blood based on an antiquated policy put in place before the advances in testing that are available today. It is legal in 29 of the U.S. states to fire or refuse to hire someone simply because of his or her sexual orientation. Pass ENDA now. The following list of states have no employment non-discrimination law covering sexual orientation or gender identity:  Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
